MY NOTORIOUS EMAILS

 

In the last five years I have had three identical emails about healthy eating, all from friends. The first came in March 2009 from my good pal, Linda Allen from the Midlands. Linda is a fibromite who cares about other people. (Strange I should hear from her this week.) A year later I received a Canadian email from Iris Weverman, a professional physiotherapist from Toronto, who I met at an American FM conference in 2007. Four years on Jeannette Warr, a close friend, who lives nearby, sent the same message this month?

With three emails about the same subject I think I am finally listening and going to take action. I was warned the information was quite long. I hope you like mysteries. It all began to happen when I searched for Dr. Stephen Mak to authenticate the advice.

The email from Canada said, “Read this…. it could save your life.” Jeanette’s email claimed, “Eating fruit on an empty stomach. This will open your eyes!!! Linda’s message said, ”Read to the end and then send it on to all on your list. I did!!”

The email ends, ‘A cardiologist says, “If everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we will save at least one life,” Wow I was beginning to feel involved and wondered why I had not done something about it before – too busy I guess. So I sat down with a cuppa and started to read this long but very informative email for the third time. This time I felt I should take action.

The email began by saying Dr. Stephen Mak treats terminal ill cancer patients in an “un-orthodox” way and many patients recover. Before he used solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients.  He believes in natural healing in the body against illnesses. His article begins, “Thanks for the email on fruits and juices. It is one of the strategies to heal cancer. As of late, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%. Cancer patients should not die. The cure for cancer is already found. It is whether you believe it or not. I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the conventional treatments. Thanks and God bless. Dr. Stephen Mak.”

EATING FRUIT

 My emails from Linda and Iris duplicated what Jeanette said, and the email went on….”We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It is not as easy as you think. It is important to know how and when to eat.What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS. FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD

Let us say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil….

Please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before meals!

You have heard people complaining every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc.  Actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Greying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes  – all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice – drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don’t even drink juice that has been heated up. Do not eat cooked fruits because you do not get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E and fibre. It is vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants and flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits and protect the body from cancer causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE: Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent and dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fibre, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

DRINKING COLD WATER AFTER A MEAL = CANCER!

Can you believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.

Once this ‘sludge’ reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE’: (THIS IS NOT A JOKE!) 

A serious note about heart attacks

Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let us be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

MY OWN COMMENTS

So I am changing many breakfast habits – fruit first and cereals after. Must have my oats…….

I think the heart attack of women is correct as I have already had emails about this,

And at mealtime I will drink my cold water before I eat my dinner. Let me know how it works for you – I am hoping I lose a bit of weight as well as being ‘radiant’.

A CHANGE OF DIRECTION

Well in searching for this Dr. Stephen Mak the plot thickened. I was led to Peterblakeboroughsblog.blogspot.co.uk. Peter Blakeborough is the author of six ebooks and his blog about Dr. Mak and eating fruit, is headed “True of False”. He agrees nothing beats a balanced diet, which takes in fruit and vegetables. This does create health living BUT…. he adds the following below…

Skeptimedia has this to say:

Combine fear of death with fear of radiation treatments and chemotherapy, add hope for an effective therapy that is cheap, easy, and avoids the painful and boring treatments of science-based medicine, and you have a prescription for a powerful opiate for the vulnerable.

Throw in a healthy dose of ignorance about human physiology and some mistrust of the “medical establishment” and the quackaloon’s job of luring you into his fantasy world of fabricated bodily processes and natural cures is as easy as setting up an authoritative-looking website.

(Guess who was a quackaloon?)

Currently making the rounds in chain e-mail among the natural cures crowd is an alleged letter from an alleged “Dr. Stephen Mak.” (There is even a Facebook page for this e-mail.)  I can find nothing about this Mak fellow except the same alleged e-mail and article from him that appears on hundreds, maybe thousands, of websites.

By the way Peter Blakeborough doubts the changes in grey hair and that the dark circles around the eyes will change if you rearrange your breakfast eating habits. So there may not be a beauty secret to discover after all.

With reference to the particular paragraph below and the suggestion of “true or false” I am pleased to say the Internet shows Dr. Herbert Shelton has written a book and was working in the world of Natural Hygiene movement.

The three emails said: “There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter.”

This website http://rawglow.com/foodcombining.htm in an article by Dennis Nelson, from The Natural Hygiene Life Science Courses, (wwww.livingnutrition.com) suggests: The principles of food combining were first explained in the earlier part of the 20th century by Dr. John Tilden, M.D., author of Toxemia Explained, and Dr. William Howard Hay, M.D. Their work was followed by Dr. Herbert Shelton..

This site http://www.rawfoodexplained.com/the-human-dietetic-character-part-ii/fruit-eating.html, contains an article written by Dr. Herbert M. Shelton . He wrote about the virtue of eating fruit but I did not notice anything about fruit for breakfast first.

The article continues, Dr. Shelton says in his book ‘Food Combining Made Easy: “As all physiologists are agreed that the character of the digestive juice secreted corresponds with the character of the food to be digested and that each food calls for its own specific modification of the digestive juice, it follows as the night the day, that complex mixtures of food greatly impair the efficiency of digestion. Simple meals will prove to be more easily digested, hence more healthful.”

So is there some essence of truth in this saga after all?

THE PLOT THICKENS

To complicate matters of a mystery we may never solve,

according to Wikipedia , “Herbert Macgolfin Shelton, N.D., (October 6, 1895 – January 1, 1985)[1] was an American naturopath, alternative medicine advocate, author, pacifist, vegetarian, supporter of rawism and fasting. Shelton was nominated by the American Vegetarian Party to run as its candidate for President of the United States in 1956. He saw himself as the champion of original Natural hygiene ideas from the 1830s.”

So even the second doctor – Herbert Shelton – is something of a mystery in our saga and he lived to be 90.

So whoever contrived the original email certainly did some research and it seems these odd emails have been catching people out since 2009 at least.

Well I do not know what you think but I am going to give it a go. I enjoy fruit at breakfast and why not eat it first. Fruit is good for you we know. Also from our cooking experiences we are aware that fat and cold water do not mix. See you soon Jeanne.
